What to expect
Newborn sessions get the best results when they take place when baby is between 5-12 days old.
They typically last 3 hours but can run up to 4 hours depending on how well the baby settles or the number of feeds required throughout the session.
This flexibility gives us plenty of time to allow baby to settle into the environment and for us to capture the sleepy and curled up poses that you see in my images.
The older a baby gets the more they stretch out and become more awake and alert and makes the images difficult to achieve.
My sessions are very relaxed and take place in my home studio in Kilmacolm, which is stocked with beautiful blankets, wraps, props and accessories. I like to make sure that the very first professional images of your newborn are as personalised to you as possible, in order to achieve this I get you to fill out a style and colour questionnaire.
Safety is of utter importance when photographing your newborn and family and as a result some of my images are composites of images to ensure baby’s safety and your peace of mind. In these composite images, a series of images are taken where hands are on baby at all times and then are digitally edited in post-production to create the final image.
